Messy and not very clean lines and probably not very original given promo photo's and whatnot, but I like it because I feel like I'm on the right path in figuring things out in regards to drawing this character at the very least.

I need a lot of improvement in learning how to shade and whatnot. As I improve, I would like to revisit this picture and see how I've improved and whatnot.

Edit: Sorry about the size... I'm still learning in regards to posting things on Dreamwidth.

That looks amazing to me! Very distinct style and honestly I'd have said 'clean lines' (although I don't work in digital so I might not be seeing what you see!) I love the colour palette too.

Thank you! I'm glad that it does. I'm just extremely fussy and have a bad habit of picking my own things apart in horrid ways. But despite that, I like this and like the style so I'm going to try and expand my skills with it. I'm glad that you love the colour palette, for once I think I got the skin tones to a point where I'm happy with them. It's what I have the most problems with in regards to colouring. And again, thank you for your kind words.

I hear you. We really are our own worst critics! I look forward to seeing more of your work in future :D

That we are. It's probably the worst part of being a writer or an artist. And thank you.

Could you please either resize the picture or put it under a cut? Like that, it's far too big.

Otherwise, it looks good to me. As an idea: You could add a little texture to the image by putting a pattern over some of Oswald's clothes (e.g. the vest). As someone who cannot shade for shit, I really like the face shading.

I resized the picture, sorry about that. I'm new to Dreamwidth so I'm learning still. But could you let me know if that's a good size so I can keep that as a reference to future sizings in case I manage to get more drawings done in the future and post them to Gotham?

Thank you though, and texture would be good. Never did something like that but worth a shot or better shading. I'm not good at shading either, so I'm learning still. Glad the face looks good for shading, finally found colours that worked for that. I used to be the type who used black's and greys for shading.

No problem. Honestly, for me, it always depends on the layout. However, as a rule, I think you can't really go wrong with a max width of 500px. Personally, I'd put anything that is bigger than that under a cut. Same goes for multiple pictures in one post.

Some textures can do wonders. But I gotta admit, I never used them in a drawing myself. Never was good at shading and probably never will be. I've basically stopped drawing over a decade ago and never thought about taking it up again. Btw, have you already drawn Jim? Because I always think he must be tough to get right in comparison to some of the more striking and unique-looking other characters.

I will definitely keep in mind, the size of this picture is 350. I don't think I'd be posting many pictures, but if I do manage to draw another character from Gotham (most likely Oswald because he's my favourite) I'll most likely share it here.

So far, Oswald is the only character from Gotham that I have drawn so far. Never considered drawing Jim lol. I might one day though. I go back and forth between drawing and not, it could be months before I take up drawing again. This picture I started last December. And only got back to it this December.
